Clinical Genetics Clinic:

 

-Goals and Objectives:

To learn skills related to the evaluation of patients with inherited metabolic and endocrine diseases.  Methods of diagnosis and genetic counseling are emphasized.

         

-Teaching Methodology: 

This is an elective offered to residents desirous of learning more about the mechanisms of genetic and epigenetic disease and the evaluation, management and counseling of patients with such disease. The patient-based mentored assessment of historical finding, examination and therapeutic plan is implemented. Residents interested ask the program director to make arrangements with the faculty of the genetics department for the resident to attend the clinic.

 

-Method of Evaluation:

All subspecialty residents are evaluated at the end of this rotation by the attending faculty should they choose to do this elective.
